In Scots, to get abune a disappointment is to move on from it, to get abune an illness is to recover.

Disputes are a fact of organisational life and should be dealt with swiftly and constructively. They rarely are.

When disputes happen, things stop working. It’s like a car whose gears get stuck. The vehicle starts to shudder and screech. The longer you keep driving it, the more damage is done, the more costly the repair. You eventually end up with a write-off.

The people involved in a dispute are often stuck deeply in the past or immediate present with their fists metaphorically up in the air, regardless of whether it is a breakdown in working relationships, a grievance or a disciplinary investigation.

They cannot think about their future, much like these two youngsters from an 1892 comic.

I help those involved to become unstuck, resolve their differences and move on.
